The PRCTRC Technologies and Resources for Core Laboratories function provides a network of laboratory resources to support clinical and translational science in Puerto Rico. It provides access to expertise and instrumentation in available technologies for clinical and translational investigators. The following site contains information about the Bioanalytical Core Lab at the PRCTRC (MSC-UPR), Genomic Translational Research Unit (MSC-UPR), PHSU and UCC Services and Equipment Units.

  • Provide and develop training opportunities in emerging methodologies that are relevant to the clinical and translational investigators, technical and support staff.
  • Expand and maintain collaborations with public, private, and government organizations to increase access to additional research resources for clinical and translational investigators addressing health disparities.
  • Coordinate and provide continuous access of clinical and translational research laboratory services among PRCTRC.
  • Maintain and expand the Genomic Translational Research Unit.
  • In collaboration with PDC, provide training opportunities focusing on creating expertise in new and emerging technologies.
  • Establish the Research Training Opportunity Program (RTOP) to support emerging and innovative technologies.
  • In collaboration with CPC, maintain and expand the TRCL Network in Puerto Rico.
  • In collaboration with CPC and CBR, seek to make new alliances with core facility directors in Puerto Rico and elsewhere to provide greater access to research resources among PRCTRC investigators.
  • Collaborate with AC to implement the new charge-back policy to recover a percentage of the cost invested in federally funded studies.

Core Accomplishments:

  • Developed training opportunities in emerging methodologies that are relevant to the clinical and translational investigators, technical and support staff.
  • Establish the Research Training Opportunity Program (RTOP). Four investigators affiliated to PRCTRC institutions have been supported.
  • Provides technical expertise, instrumentation, and services, while prioritizing investigator access to TRCL facilities and services according to the research area, translational potential, and clinical application of the project.
  • Establish the cost recovery system among clinical and translational research supported by TRCL in collaboration with the Administrative Core.
  • Support the development of the Puerto Rico Omic Center (PROMIC).
  • 224 studies have been supported by TRCL.
  • 97 investigators and faculty have been supported by TRCL.
  • 29 grants were awarded by TRCL users, for a total of $9,970,804.
